Video Fashion Credits: Beyoncé “Pretty Hurts”

Posted on Monday, December 16, 2013

I’ve been getting loads of requests from you guys requesting the fashion credits for the full music videos from Beyoncé’s just released self-titled visual album. So here is the first one: “Pretty Hurts”.

The video was directed by Melina Matsoukas and styled by Bea Åkerlund, with additional styling by Ty Hunter & Raquel Smith.

Beyoncé, a.k.a beauty pageant contestant Miss 3rd Ward, had ELEVEN wardrobe changes.

I’ve already showed you her Norma Kamali looks and Murmur leotard (worn with Gumball Poodle “Gangsta” socks)…

… and below is the best from the rest.

Miss 3rd Ward sings in Dolce Gabbana AW11 ruched star print puff-sleeve-worn-as-off-shoulder dress, accessorized with vintage bunny ears headband and rhinestone star earrings, both from New York Vintage, and Tom Ford AW13 beaded cone-heel sandals…

… suffers in front of the mirror, wearing Julien Macdonald AW13 “Mirage” intricately constructed and embellished art deco dress, styled with Erickson Beamon Bunny Ears!

… suffers in her gym in We Are Handsome “Hideaway” print leggings & bodysuit.

This look was completed with Dolce & Gabbana AW07 gunmetal cinched belt with padlock detail on front and corset style lace-up back (B wore for the BET Awards back in 2007) and what I believe are (sold out) Platform Bluchers by Zara.

Miss 3rd Ward takes the stage (and the plunge) in a 20′s-inspired blue hand-beaded zigzag fringe dress from Georges Chakra Couture AW09 collection and Erickson Beamon earrings…

… and suffers again, wearing Fur Straight Jacket with multiple padlocks, from The Blonds AW13 “Village of The Blond”.

Her dramatic gold-plated bib collar featuring all-over Swarovski crystal embellishment, spiked lucite beads, and chains is Je T’aime Necklace by Erickson Beamon.

The finishing touch: Giuseppe Zanotti AW13 Star-Detail Suede Cage Bootie-Sandals (not the only pair of Zanotti’s Bey wears in the video).

The last look consisted of Dolce & Gabbana SS12 heavily bejeweled bralet and silver painted shorts.

Drop me a line with your next video fashion credits request to ;)

From Dresses to Swimwear, Turn Up The Heat This Summer at LuLu*s

Video Fashion Credits: Beyoncé “Party”

Posted on Tuesday, January 31, 2012

“Party” ft. J. Cole is the sixth video released from Beyoncé’s album “4″.

The video directed by Alan Ferguson and Beyoncé herself was shot in the Oakdale Mobile Home Park in South Brunswick Township, New Jersey. Fashion Director: Ty Hunter. Stylist: Raquel Smith.

According to Beyoncé’s creative director Jenke-Ahmed Tailly, the inspiration for the video was “trailer trash, ghetto fabulous, out-there, edgy…”. Watch the behind the scenes for more.

In the first scene Beyoncé wears Wildfox “I Love Summer” tee.

Black garter belt panties, red sequin fanny pack (similar to this one on Patricia Field) and “something” in a cage necklace (stolen heart? love bird?) complete the look.

Second look consists of Dolce & Gabbana white leopard print bodysuit and D&G Spring 2011 gingham shorts, accessorized with yellow snakesking bamboo doorknocker earrings by Seville Michelle Anastos (another brand you can find at Patricia Field) and what looks like a yummy Ring Pop!

Next look is this gorgeous multicolor sequin mosaic dress.

A vintage treasure from Nicole Miller archive.

Fourth look.

Party continues in the pool with Bee in super V-cut swimsuit (not sure who is this one by, let me know in case you do or in case you can’t live without this piece I’ll keep digging).

Fifth look. And my favourite shoes from the video Beyoncé wore with matching fur gilet, pair of dark cat eye shades and bunny headband.

Rodarte Fall 2011 by Nicholas Kirkwood with hand beaded and cut-out details. Love everything about these green babies you can still get the shorter version of at Opening Ceremony.

Pin up frilly bikini you know from “4″ promo shoot by Ellen Von Unwerth, two tone cat eye sunnies and a colorful pair of Dior “Tahiti” platform pumps from SS 2011 collection.

I was not sure about the beachwear since I haven’t seen it anywhere yet I remembered similar ruffled hotpants from the SS11 show. So a while ago I decided to ask the man I thought was behind the sassy ensemble directly. And Jean Paul Gaultier got back to me in no time saying: “Oui Oui Oui ! It’s a JPG total look!”

Seven. Beyoncé showcasing Givenchy Men’s Spring 2012 collection - Birds of Paradise top and jersey leggings.

Finishing touch – Christian Louboutin colorblock patent Lady Peep Sling!

Sequin embellished draped jacket and miniskirt from House of Deréon Holiday 2011 collection!

I believe this tiger print dress embellished with thousands of tiny black and gold beads and sequins is Emilio Pucci Pre-Fall 2011.

Ten. Yellow fur jacket and Laruicci jewels! To be precise, Bee rocked a couple of Sultan bracelets and Full Moon ring in green Aurora Borealis crystal, available at Laruicci.

Kelly Rowland, in Louis Vuitton Spring 2011 ensemble and Laruicci jewelry, was one of the VIPs at the party, together with Solange, eyewear designers Coco & Breezy and House of Field stylist Dai Burger.

Eleven. The party ain’t over yet!

Green leather jacket with oversized black buttons and Peter Pan collar from Louis Vuitton Fall 2011 collection, Brian Lichtenberg Blindside Leggings and black leather Haji earrings with gold studs from Crux NY.

And a couple of looks more!

Twelve. I’m sure you remember this look from trash fantasy shoot Bee did last summer with Dazed & Confused.

Photography Sharif Hamza. Styling Karen Langley. Make-up Francesca Tolot (who also did the make-up for the video). Hair Kim Kimble. Nails Lisa Logan (Green Cheetah Minx nails!).

Beyoncé wears custom made Louis Vuitton jacket and pants accessorized with latex suspender belt and stockings from Show Girls.

And the last one.

Thirteen! Dazed & Confused cover look.

Custom made Givenchy Fall 2011 jumper (on the cover worn with high waisted 60′s pants by Emilio Pucci from Liz Mendez Vintage).

If you know any additional details and credits I haven’t mentioned above, please drop me a line. And another one in case you want me to talk about some of your favorite music star’s look of late: patricia @!
