As the clock ticked closer to her shows at Revel Ovation Hall in Atlantic City, Bee invited us to her world via “Making of a Concert” behind the scene films (if you haven’t seen them yet, head to Beyoncé official site: part 1 and part 2). And the hard work absolutely paid off.
During four nights Beyoncé did on the Revel stage what she does best. During four shows she shared her art, love and magical energy with a total of about 22,000 fans impatient to see her first performance in almost a year.
Styled by Ty Hunter, Bee dazzled in six custom made costumes.
Crystal beaded fringe mini skirt and power shoulder bra top…
… and nude mesh bodysuit with red panel detailing and red leather strip mini train were designed by couture house Ralph & Russo and crystalized with over half a million Swarovski Elements!
You know how much I love all the behind the seams details, and knowing Ralph & Russo garments are made-to-measure the traditional couture way, sewn, beaded and embellished individually by hand, I was even more intrigued.
Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo, who kindly shared with me the original sketches of two of the three costumes they designed for Beyoncé, told me they can create custom made couture pieces in 3-5 weeks. Due to the heavy embellishment of Swarovski crystals they had a team of 20 couturiers working around the clock on the outfits which were completed in 4 weeks! The entire process from design through to completion took 6 weeks.
The black dévoré bodysuit with tribal pattern and the leather pleat and fringe belt it was accessorized with, both belong to David Koma SS12 collection.
The next piece was light catching bodysuit with beaded fringe accents, paved by hand with thousands of Swarovski crystals, custom made for Beyoncé and her very special “come back” by The Blonds.
And last but not least, both the embroidered and beaded leather peplum jacket with mesh inserts and beaded fringe shorts ensemble…
… and black and yellow bumble bee suit were custom made by Tina Knowless for House of Deréon Couture!
Needless to say I would have loooved being there.
